Performance is better than build quality.

150MB/s-158MB/s transfer rate when transferring 3TB file via USB3.0 I'm just sad when I put the hard drive in the slot for the first time, the plastic platter broke. not sure about build quality.

Pros
  • Chic design
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Revainrating 4 out of 5

does not work with high capacity drives that have more.

will not work with high capacity drives that have more platters than usual because the power supply is not strong enough to run them. The hard drive spins up, you get data off the hard drive, and then the power goes out. You can lose data or even damage the drive.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Frequency

Good unit. currently under Computers and Accessories

This is a normal device. I am currently having trouble disabling the eSATA connection (reason to purchase). USB recognizes both drives and mounts correctly on Linux, OS X and Windows. I'm pretty sure there is loose solder on the eSATA connector (I'll take it apart and check later). Solid construction, USB works, eSATA consists of TWO separate ports (and port 2 is intermittent).

  • New

Works perfectly! Perfect replacement for my dead Kingwin EZ Dock

Perfect replacement/upgrade - not that the Kingwin EZ Dock setup was bad, it lasted a few years but died anyway and the eSATA version was almost double the price like here and there is no prime delivery. In addition, this StarTech model offers TWO HHD bays, while the previous model only had one. So he doubled the performance for half the price. I'm postponing the 5th star until I've had it in a little over a couple of weeks, but so far everything has been great. Highly recommended.

Great tool!

I use this all the time. I have some "bare" hard drives and this works great to mount them. I had a drive that just stopped working. Completely dead. I took it apart, unscrewed the data interface and power connector, plugged it into this little device, and everything was fine with the disk. Yes I could buy a new case but it has two slots and I can use it on a number of drives that don't have cases. I had no problems with that at all. I run other tests on it, but it seems to run fast enough. I…

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • poorly thought out

This relatively inexpensive dock just works. A nice bonus is that it comes with cables. The instructions are very sparse and pretty bad, but it worked with every hard drive I've installed, from 3.5" and 2.5" spinning drives to 2.5" SSDs, where both eSATA and USB 2.0 and 3.0 were used on three different PCs. Note: To turn on the dock, simply press the power button. To turn off the dock, you need to press and hold the power button for 4-5 seconds until it turns off.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • A few minor things

Excellent Dual Drive HD Dock for Mac Pro with eSATA PCe expansion card

Impressed. Spent the last few days consolidating and archiving terabytes of video projects and deliverables. Even on my quad-core Zeon Mac, this is painfully slow due to limited bandwidth. But this dual docking station has made things a lot easier. I wish I had bought two of these! As for critiques, I wish it worked better when swapping one drive at a time rather than ejecting both when just swapping one of the drives. I also wish it had a hard rocker switch instead of a number button. The…

There are so many dual USB 3.0 docking stations out there.

There are so many docking stations on the market with two USB 3.0 ports. However, I found that most of them are SATA 2 specification. Why? Because USB 3.0 is 5Gb/s and SATA 3 is 6Gb/s. It doesn't matter if you're only using one HDD, but it should cause bottlenecks if you're connecting an SSD. So far I've found products from two companies that support the SATA 3 specification: Startek and Highpoint. It also has a SATA 3 connector and there is no problem using the port multiplier if the connected
