Just works best in accessories and consumables

But cooling needs to be taken care of, I have an Intel P4510 attached to it and an Intel P3700 card directly on top. While these are two different generations, they differ by 10 degrees (and U2 is warmer). Pay attention to the temperature when you first build your computer, get some real-time monitoring software (I only use nvme-cli intel temp-stats tool on Linux), you can relax after finding out that everything is safe. NVME and airflow take time to settle into the desktop chassis.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • No mold required

It just works and works well

Use with 2TB Intel DC P4600 Enterprise Drive (SSDPE2KE020T7K1) U.2. With Win10 it worked great right away. No drivers required. The drive was recognized immediately. StarTech makes great products. Don't be discouraged if the StarTech version costs a little more. You get what you pay for. This map is well constructed. Thick circuit board, strong bracket, all disk mounting holes match. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

This is the way to U.2 if there is no native U.2 on the board

. This allowed me to connect my U.2 Samsung PM953 1.9TB to my machine (EVGA z370 Micro) and fixed a strange issue I had with the previous setup (M.2 to U.2 adapter powered by intel). With the M.2 to U.2 adapter I had, the system would power back on a few seconds after each OS-initiated shutdown. /suspend. Switching to this connection method fixed that .U.2 NVME drives are still quite rare and non-HEDT/server boards typically lack the appropriate connectors. If you have a free x4 slot and a U.2…

It's funny how "it works " is underrated

I decided to save some money by buying another brand card for $10. It was connected to my 400GB Intel 750 which was going to be the OS drive for my home server. After the initial installation, during the setup and "prep" phase, my system froze and I had to perform a hard reboot. I didn't get past the initial setup and it took me a while to run into issues. It was either a cheap SFF-8643 card or my drive (my drive had previously been removed from my working system). Switched to this StarTech…

cannot be replaced with low profile PCI bracket

I wanted to install this on a server that has physical clearance inside the case (for a full size card) but it only has one PCI -Low profile mount provide this. Based on the adapter pictures, I could just unscrew the included full-size bracket and attach the low-profile bracket (there are many network adapters, HCAs, etc.), but you can't. Both the spine spacing and hole spacing differ by 1-2mm - I'm not sure why they used something proprietary when the bracket screw hole layout is part of the…

Doesn't work for me: Audio and Video Accessories

It took me 2 months to figure out why my PC was having trouble booting. I thought it was due to SSDs. After so much trouble, I found out that the problem was with this adapter. It looks like it can't provide enough power to the SSD or it's just broken. However, after I removed the card, my computer was back to normal.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Upgradable

Pros
  • Simplify your system build with a U.2 to PCIe adapter that connects your SSD directly to the adapter without an adapter cable. Harness the enhanced performance of a 2.5" PCIe NVMe SSD for data-intensive workloads.
Cons
  • I will add later

Recently I tested many M.2 and U.2 NVMe SSDs for function. While you'll find M.2 slots (1 or 2 anyway) on many consumer-grade desktop motherboards, I haven't found many workstation/server boards with U.2 interfaces unless they have to be in 1U. or a 2U form factor server chassis. This is where this element comes into play. It's definitely no frills, but there really isn't much that this board can do. Basically you just grab a PCIe x4 slot and get an SFF-8639 along with enough cards to screw a…
