This is a piece of junk

I will probably return this product. I could only attach two things at a time. She doesn't have enough energy to handle the big one! So why 4 hubs when you can only use 2 at the same time? Very strange. All I'm waiting for is Dell to tell me if it was their port's fault or that little USB hub's fault. The jury hasn't made a decision on this yet, and the window to return to is closing fast, so I'm not sure what I'm doing just yet. But it also feels like an addict. very easy. and do not think…

As advertised: Computer Accessories and Peripherals

Supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gbps) speeds and powers your devices over USB. Of course, you need a USB port that can provide speed and performance. Don't be fooled, 10 Gbps is shared across all 4 ports. Each of the ports supports advertised speeds, but bandwidth is shared. Of course, your device should be able to run at these speeds, don't expect an older USB stick to be any faster when you plug it in, and don't expect 10Gbps drives on all four ports as long as you can every single connect has full

  • Feel Good

USB-C Hub - 4 USB-A Ports - 10Gbps

Connected to Motherboard (X470/Ryzen 2700X) MB/s recording with Samsung 860 EVO 500 GB installed in Vantec External Case NexStar USB 3.1 Gen 2 (NST-270A31-BK). It's FAST that the drive plugs directly into the SATA III connector and into the actual transfer. I moved the 45GB folder with 4K and 1080P movies that was on the drive to a 1TB NVMe boot drive on the motherboard. It transmits at 405MB/s for the entire transfer, with no buffering. Only the direct raw rate for the entire broadcast…

FOUR drives I plugged into it were damaged beyond repair.

I have four working external drives. Two HHD RAIDs and two SSDs. I separated them from the ports I've been using for months and plugged all four into a hub. I ran speed tests on two drives and the speed test app reported errors. Meanwhile, background processes have been written to two RAIDs. Then they reported the bug. I turned off my computer and reconnected four drives to the ports they were previously connected to and now all four drives are corrupted and unusable. Now I need to copy over…

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Had to send it back as defective after extensive troubleshooting. First, it drew so much power from the (perfectly working) CalDigit USB 3.1 card originally plugged into the MacPro tower that it forced other devices on the card to eject. Second, he could barely see the devices plugged into him (such as low-power USB drives). When it did, it crept at speeds below USB 1.0. Finally, the manufacturer's note in the Q&A is completely inaccurate: The cable on the device is no longer than 6 inches…

Pros
  • Like everything before
Cons
  • Big and clumsy

Could be better

The reason why the price is so low. The good first: 1) Easy connection to Thunderbolt 2) Connected devices are recognized almost immediately. 3) Ability to easily connect external drives that either require power or don't require power 4) Works to charge devices such as headphones when the laptop is off Bad now 1) Assumes 10GB/s. I have one such device and when connected directly via Thunderbolt I get close to the advertised speed of a PCI NVMe 3x4 SSD. However, when the same element is…

Pros
  • Self-Powered USB Hub: Includes an external universal 12V 4A power adapter (North America, EU, UK, Japan, Australia/New Zealand) and a dedicated power switch to easily power all connected downstream devices switch to electricity saver
Cons
  • A slightly crumpled

Good but expensive USB to USB adapter

I've been using it for a while now, I just plug in a sensor for my Oculus Rift and haven't had any problems with it so far. As for researching why it's still 3.0, I haven't even looked into it anymore. I saw that the manufacturer tried to contact me, but I didn't even notice it on my Revain account. In general it could be incompatibility issues as the manufacturer said it is 3.1 Gen 2 and they have tested it. But I'll just take her word for it. So I'm revising my old rating and upgrading it to…

Pros
  • SPEED UP TO 5 Gb/s: USB 3.0 SuperSpeed 5 Gb/s (USB 3.1 Gen 1 / USB 3.2 Gen 1), shared for all downstream devices, supported Flash Drives, Storage Devices, Keyboards, Mice, Internet Cameras, Headsets
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Not compatible with TB adapters

For those thinking of trying this: iMac with Thunderbolt 1 used an Apple TB3 to TB2 Adapter with Cellularize USB-C Female Adapter to connect this StarTech USB hub and it didn't work . Also does not work with Macbook Pro with TB2 ports (2015). I chose this hub and the Cellularize adapter because they are both Thunderbolt 3 compatible, which is required to use the Thunderbolt ports. The device must be compatible with Thunderbolt. In theory, the setup I chose should have worked. I have no idea…

  • WIDE OPERATING SYSTEM COMPATIBILITY: USB-C Hub for Laptop/Desktop is OS independent, driverless installation, supports major operating systems including Windows, macOS, Linux, iPadOS, Chrome OS and Android
