I use StartTech products where I work and have always had good experiences with this brand. While other brands stop working, StartTech keeps working. This is no exception.

Instantly faster than Wi-Fi

I'm using this on a MacBook Pro that doesn't have a built-in ethernet port. A small increase in Wi-Fi speed if your network devices use it.

Overheats and disconnects

The adapter overheats and disconnects when used for any purpose other than normal web browsing. I'm having problems with the adapter with video conferencing traffic (10 Mbit/s). Threw it back in the box. As an alternative, consider the well-rated and recommended Revain Basics power adapter converted to USB-C.

Worked great where a cheap connector I bought from a local store failed.

. Urgently needed a GigE USB connector so instead of waiting for the one the IT tech recommended, bought another brand at the local shop. Bad idea. The cheap one stays connected to GigE for no longer than 5 minutes. That hard rock at all speeds. Very happy with it.

Works as expected: Network adapter

This works well for devices that need an ethernet adapter and have a USB-C port I was able to successfully use it to connect an Android phone running Android 11 with no issues or need in other software. This did NOT work on a phone running Android 10.

Works most of the time

Works great when it works most of the time. It dies on long transfers so I couldn't use it to run backups over my internal network and when the system goes to sleep the network sometimes doesn't work after the system wakes up unless you disconnect and plug it back in . , Tested on Windows 10 on an ASUS laptop.
