Used for home router. Works perfectly.

I bought this along with mini box M350 and pico power supply to build my home router. I added 8GB of RAM and an SSD drive. I used free router software with a good reputation. This is commercial quality and costs less than purchasing an equivalent already fitted. It's fanless, quiet, and runs really cool. It is said to use very little power. I've never seen CPU usage exceed a few percent and memory usage rarely goes above 1GB of RAM, even when using IDS/IPS software. My VPN is completely secure.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Works for my purposes, no problem.

This is not a tech review with specs, port speeds etc because it didn't really matter to me as this mobo/cpu combo is overkill for my purposes anyway. Bought for PFSense firewall/router, ran it and DMZ machine on Virtual Box/Ubuntu Server. Just 2GB of RAM and a 64GB mSATA hard drive. Updated the BIOS and booted Ubuntu from a portable DVD drive. I seem to remember that I initially had some trouble with the BIOS when trying to boot Ubuntu from a DVD via USB, but after a bit of experimenting I got

Low Power Fanless pfSense Firewall/QOS/VPN Router

I am using this as Gigabit PfSense Firewall/VPN/QOS Router. Add 4 or 8GB of DDR3 laptop memory, a gigabit switch, a case, a power supply, a supported wireless card or access point (I'm still using a Linksys WRT54GL with Tomato firmware in AP mode), a router software and you're almost done. The Intel Celeron J1900 quad-core 2GHz (up to 2.4GHz) processor has a TDP of just 10W. With router software and easy QOS setup, you can play Bible music ("OG OG OG" ) simultaneously download, stream, play…

I bought two of these devices to run OpenBSD and .

I bought two of these devices to install OpenBSD and create a dual firewall solution (DMZ in the middle). I've used OpenBSD 5.8, 5.9 and 6.0 with no problems. They work quickly and reliably. I have 0 complaints about this product.

Great board Best in Motherboards category

So far it's been a very stable and surprisingly fast machine. I have several Supermicro Atom D525 based servers and they have always been very reliable but noticeably slow. I configured this unit with 4GB of RAM and a Kingston 30GB mSATA SSD to save on cables (it's in a 1U chassis). With Ubuntu Server 14.04, this thing is surprisingly fast. D525-based boards are fine for good routers/firewalls, but trying to use them as quiet, low-power desktops isn't a good experience. I wouldn't hesitate to…

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Not the best

Not good, buggy, good for internals

I installed Linux and Windows, had crashes and problems restarting in Linux. So I installed Windows, it got better but not as stable as it should be. I'm still sitting around waiting for a system that can afford to be unreliable (haha).

Pros
  • Enjoyable
Cons
  • Legacy model

This is an excellent low power fanless board

This is an excellent low power fanless board. I installed this in a 1U rackmount case with pfSense installed and it works fine.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Fair

Picky about RAM, check before ordering!

FIRST: Beware - the RAM recommended by Revain (and ordered by me) is not compatible with this motherboard, so there was some delay while I waited for the correct RAM from Crucial. The board SHOULD be defective, but a little research solved the problem. Fast and convenient, the mSATA slot frees up all SATA ports for hard drives. While I'm still in the process of setting up a data transfer from the old server, it's proven fast and stable for the first 4 days of heavy I/O. ;-)

Pros
  • Pleased
Cons
  • Not everything fits
