Excellent at First Sight.: Computers and Accessories

****Update: It still charges my computer well but since I've been using it my screen and I have been blocked lose the mouse pointer. This only happens when I use it with this charger plugged in. I'm buying a Microsoft charger and I suggest you do the same. if you end up not wanting to pay for a new computer at all. *Initial Rating: So far, so good. I'd rather pay for this charger than the $80 Microsoft charges customers.

Almost identical to OEM

Overall this is a pretty good charger. I've had a few in the past that barely made it past 6 months. This version is faithful to the original in design and form, including the USB port in the case. I prefer to charge my phone as my Surface only has one other USB port. My only issue is that the light that comes on to let you know it's charging went out after just a few weeks. It's very annoying when it's not there. On several occasions I have found my Surface with a dead battery because the…

Great economical solution!

The Microsoft charger that came with my Surface Pro started having problems right away (mainly it wouldn't charge without trying to reconnect). When he died I didn't want to buy a replacement from Microsoft ($75). My IT specialist recommended I look elsewhere, which I did. This charger had good reviews but two complaints were 1) a shorter cord; and 2) longer time to charge. I took a risk After weeks of continuous use, I can assure you that it charges just as fast as the original. I put two…

It seems to work but it's noisy

I bought it for my wife for Surface Pro. The first one I got made a very noticeable high-pitched buzz when plugged in. I understand that there are components in power supplies that can vibrate at 60Hz and multiples of that, but that seemed overkill given the original adapter is as quiet as a mouse. So I contacted support and they concluded it wasn't normal so they sent me another one. The second is much quieter, if not silent, but it seems to work well and doesn't heat up, so I'm keeping it…

It works but seems a bit insecure

The first time I used it it actually turned on the light when I connected the cord to my laptop. it was scary and almost made me stop using it. However, I think we were too lazy to buy another one and kept using it even though it could be dangerous. After some time the spark stopped and now everything works. I really hope this doesn't affect my laptop's battery life.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • For seniors

Using AC adapters

My computer's power cord came loose and I was trying to plug it back in when it flared up. So I had to order a replacement power supply for my Surface Pro. WARNING, so connect the AC adapter to the computer first, and then plug the power cord into an electrical outlet. If the computer side is dropped for any reason, do not attempt to connect the AC adapter without first unplugging the AC side from the outlet. Lesson learned, so this replacement works perfectly!

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • I'm silent
