Large waist 28.3-46.5 inches true but at 38 my waist is squeezed a bit by the elastic so I would hesitate to get a large one to buy if you have your waist is wider than mine. I was very nervous because according to the size chart I needed closer to XL, although I'm usually between M/L or jean size 10.
