Something has changed at Cats

I've been buying this cat food for quite some time with no problems. This time NONE of my 5 cats will eat this food and of course I bought the largest pack available. I was terribly frustrated with this issue as looking for something else to feed at the last minute is an expensive proposition. I don't know what has changed, but I will no longer buy this brand.

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Only available in black

Something has changed in the recipe.

As several others have pointed out, the recipe for this dish has recently changed. I've also seen comments on other sites over the past few months confirming these concerns. I've been using this food for over 6 years, but now my [healthy, vet-licensed] cat has much smellier poop and is reluctant to eat this food (any other dry food will do).

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Bad Instructions

Something has changed!

My cats loved this food and ate the whole portion at once. I've been feeding them this for years. Something is wrong with this latest bag. I order on March 30th. The grains themselves are larger. When I first served this my cats showed no interest in the food. After a while they ate it, realizing I didn't have any other food for them. All had diarrhea and lethargy. Be careful if you continue to buy this food!

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • There are problems

Causes my cat to have cystitis/cystitis, dandruff and pimples

I have been feeding my 5 cats this ToTW formula for several years. I don't know if there was a change in formula, supplier, manufacturing or something else, but one of my cats had recurrent bladder infections/UTIs on this food. She gets plenty of water and I even turn it into "wet food" by pouring hot water over it and turning it into a pie-like texture. She still has these problems. She also got quite a lot of "cat pimples" and scales on this particular batch of food. Again, I fed this forโ€ฆ

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some difficulties

I was drawn to the taste of the wild as it was a grain free, high protein pellet at a reasonable price. I have been using the same dry food for our Russian Blues since 2007 and for our Orange Tabbies since 2010. Then this year (2019) something changed. Our red tabby cat kept throwing up. 6-8 months to figure out what's going on. Vet visits, deworming, researching outdoor pesticide use, etc. Then we just stopped feeding him Taste of the Wild and the vomiting stopped. If we bring back Taste ofโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities

This diet gave my cat bladder stones

For a long time I only fed my cat this food because I believed the "marketing" that this company uses to sell their food. I thought I was buying quality groceries but that wasn't the case. I've learned the hard way that expensive food for conscientious pet owners is not necessarily high quality food. My vet has been a practitioner for 40 years and told me that a high-protein, grain-free diet has always been a cause of cat stones. He calls them boutique cat food because they're expensive andโ€ฆ

Local poll says 100% of cats love it!

I feed six cats: three house cats and three street cats. Two were adopted by me, the other four came into the house; I think they adopted me. I agree, they are my squad. In any case, it's difficult to find good wet and dry food that all six will eat. For example, with wet food, three prefer pies (and two eat ONLY pies), two prefer chunks of gravy (aka Frisco chunks), and one eats anything that falls into their bowl. He's my favorite meal. His name is Moby (a whale, not a singer) and I'veโ€ฆ

Excellent value, quality groceries

We found the taste of the wild to be the most affordable ingredients. My vet put my 12 lb cat on Science Diet W/D to lose weight for her ENTIRE LIFE! For ten years she ate this garbage, and I didn't understand anything. I happily shell out big bucks for grain and fillers for my veterinary jobs. My cat didn't lose an ounce despite eating less than the recommended amount for a 10 lb cat because she absolutely hated the food. Also, as a friend noticed while observing the cat, she produced anโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
