Great gift idea - ready to read

My boyfriend is a chef and I was looking for a special gift for him. I saw this in a YouTube video that a pastry chef used and thought it was cool. My friend only had one of those digital ones that you plug everything you test into. He found it magical and uses it all the time. He said that this is a real professional tool.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • So-so

PROBE IS THE WEAK LINK

This thermometer works great (the scan function isn't that good), but the sensor isn't attached very well. I wiped it off after checking wet bread and pulled the probe out of the thermometer, breaking two tiny wires. I would not recommend this thermometer because of this shortcoming, the price and only a 1 year warranty. Revain has comparable devices that work just as well for 1/10th the cost and come with a lifetime warranty.

5 years no problems

One of the best thermometers I have ever used - had to look for it on my Revain purchases. I'm here to buy another one because my kitchen renovation went missing that amazing 5 year old thermometer. I have lovesickness. Someone mentioned changing batteries way too often - I have NEVER changed the battery and this thermometer gets a lot of use. The only good news is that it's now $10 cheaper than it was 5 years ago.

Pros
  • Large selection

eats up batteries quickly

When I got this I was excited. It reads the timings very quickly and seems easy to use. Defects. To pull the sensor out I'm right-handed and bulky and have to rotate the device to open the sensor. it would be better on the right than on the left. Battery life. Invest in AAA batteries because this device will eat them up. There is no way to turn the device on or off for a timeout. Bulky, doesn't fit in sleeve pocket. Would I buy again, no as I don't own a battery company.

Love having this in my kitchen. I was skeptical that the "scan" feature would be useful, but it really comes in handy for determining when a hot pan of oil is hot enough to brown anything you're about to throw away. The probe is great for roasting or roasting meat; This will help you get it to the right temperature without overcooking or making it tough. Now this is unacceptable in my kitchen. I'm not sure why I waited so long to get a quick thermometer.

Essential for safe and perfectly prepared meals

I've been using instant read analogue thermometers for years - I always carried one in my pocket when I was cooking. I didn't want to try digital, thinking my analog was "close" enough. This may still be true, but the difference with digital thermometers is that you get an almost instant reading. This is a welcome time saver when you're cooking fast food and it's all very quick. I use it for meat, poultry, fish and cooked casseroles. I also use it to measure the temperature of water, sauces or…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Lots of things

This is the best thing I've ever used - stop to look for, because it is all there. And sadly (!) I bought tons (here on Revain) that I had to throw away! Seriously, it sucks, but nothing more. I've been cooking for over 4 decades and have dealt with many underperforming, poorly designed thermometers (an old metal meat thermometer with a glass lid, several manual sugar bottles, and an electric one). It's decades old and used for nostalgia :-) Thermae lollipops. Manual and Favorites were recently

Pros
  • I've got my fingers crossed
