Excellent blocks for thermometers

I use these blocks to check the efficiency of air conditioners and heaters. They work great. 2 units, one for In Temp, one for Out Temp, the difference will tell you how well it works. I just drilled holes in the duct next to the indoor unit (1 inlet and one outlet). Most useful for air conditioning, but not bad for heating!

ideal for car temperature sensor

There are several of them. Use two of these for a temperature sensor in a race car and a vintage car. It was possible to slide the sensor cable under the radiator rubber clamp. Works better than factory. Lasted for years. Do you have one in the dog bed so be aware of how cold/hot the floor is for the dog. So I spoil my best friend the dog. Keep him away from the trainer. Do you have a probe out there. The sensor cable is nice and long.

Not exactly. suitable for temperature and humidity

I have it in my garden over the counter. I'm always curious what the temperature is like when I'm there and that gives me a rough idea. As a retired engineer, I was hoping for specifics, not general ideas. What's the point of showing tenths of degrees when the whole number is off by a degree or two! Disappointing. I gave it 4 stars because it works but not exactly. Maybe it should be 3.

A poorly made probe will not hold.

This lasted approximately 4 uses before the probe insulation failed causing liquid break through and sensor failure. I tried splicing in the repair, there is no joy. waste of money. Very weak wiring and sensor isolation. There are no spare parts. I am adding this article to my growing list of poorly made thermometers. How difficult is it to make a waterproof probe that will last more than 6 months? Entrepreneur, this is your niche.

Durable, accurate and great for brewing!

I also use this thermometer for brewing. I used it to measure both the mash temperature and the temperature after cooling in the fermentation bucket. It is easy to mount on the wall and very durable. It's only a degree away from my thermapen, so I trust its accuracy. I've kept it submerged (mashing and rinsing and being in the pellets in the chiller) for several hours and there has never been any water ingress. The only time I've had a problem was my own mistake (accidentally pulling the cable…

2 breaks but good so far

Not strong enough for home brewing. I've already done two. Both are now reading LLL. I overexposed the first one by heating the torch because the cord along the kettle fell too close to the torch before I realized it. Second, the cable coating wears away over time from heat exposure and cracking. The outer sheath will tear exposing the inner wire, distorting the temperature reading. I tried cutting and splicing the first one and the temp gauge alternated between reality and the LLL error code…

Pros
  • Comfortable to use

  • Slightly torn

I've used this thermometer (twice) to check mash temp when .

I have used this thermometer (twice) to check the wort temperature when brewing beer. I bought this device because my last thermometer (also tested by me) finally gave up after many years of intensive use and is currently no longer available :(It is very hard to find accurate food thermometers that are designed for immersion in boiling water are, but I digress. On the third use, the device stopped reading correctly (indicating that the temperature was below the minimum maintained value. Usually

Home Brewer Must Buy

This thermometer is the best I have ever used. I bought several department stores for meat, cooking, and a very expensive thermometer ($100) with poor results. The wires of the meat and kitchen thermometer were too short and could not be immersed in seasoning or water and would break when immersed. The cord of an expensive thermometer could be submerged in water, but again the wire was too short, and the device accidentally got stuck in my jam, breaking the meter. This thermometer has a wire…

Discreet immersion thermometer

I bought this for yogurt making and compared it to my Fluke 52 digital thermometer with Type K thermocouple. It reads within 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit of Fluke. However, Fluke reads exactly 2 seconds later. This takes at least 25 seconds. But the thermocouple I use with Fluke says "not for immersion" (although it works fine), so I wanted an affordable immersion thermocouple. The Fluke Immersion Probe on Revain is currently $84.95 so I decided to give it a try. Because the dip probe design is…
