Description of π§ 3 7" TCT Tungsten Carbide Tipped Product
Power through wood, MDF, plastics, plasterboard and ceramic wall tiles up to five times faster than a bi-metal hole saws. Carbide tipped teeth for outstanding cutting performance and product durability. Smooth cut with minimal heat build up. Suitable for use in mains and battery powered tools. 2-1/8-inches cutting depth.
Our house has plasterboard ceilings. Blunts conventional hole saws in minutes. I had to install a lot of small recessed lights, so I tried that. I've put over a dozen holes in one of these and it stayed as sharp as ever. It also doesn't catch as much as I expected. That's the quality I've come to expect from Starrett.
Really poor quality, broke in the first 10 minutes of use. I have never seen a hole saw break, I bought this item because of the manufacturer, I have many other tools from them which are usually good quality. My guess is that they bought them from a Chinese manufacturer and then added their name. BTW I drilled 1/4 inch steel on a press with coolant.
