I upgraded my 12 year old Dell Precision 390 workstation with two TECMIYO kits (4 x 2GB modules) replacing the original 4GB ECC memory. I asked the vendor if all the modules had the same chip count and speed, and they quickly confirmed. This memory is not ECC. I've had all Samsung. I can't afford a new PC so this was a really nice upgrade and easy to replace. So far very satisfied. Good performance. RAM arrived on time and in good condition. Bought 4 sticks of 2GB to upgrade an Inspiron 518 that only had 4GB. It took several rounds of reinserts (I think the slots were a bit dirty) and reboots to train the memory and the full 8GB (max allowable) was in place. I ran memtest86 for 12 hours with no errors. I downloaded the Linux distribution, everything seems fine.

Available I have a home build ASUS M3N72-D motherboard dated 25 Jul 2009 with an AMD Phenom IIx4 processor that only has 4GB of RAM. Although my ASUS book says it requires up to 8GB of RAM, it isn't. I replaced that awful amount of RAM that originally came with that old dinosaur back when 4GB RAM was expensive. Unfortunately the PC only recognizes 3GB out of the 4GB I bought but overall it was the best value for money as if I bought a 2GB and another 1GB it would be more expensive than two cards with 2GB I received. This is a limitation of the BIOS on the laptop, not the RAM itself. There might be a way to flash the BIOS to recognize an additional 1GB of RAM, but I haven't tried it and the…
