Description of 🔧 TEKTON 18mm Ratcheting Combination Wrench - WRN53118

6-point box end snugly fits hex-shaped fastener heads and resists slipping off while you work. Box end opening is designed to grip flat sides of fastener heads, not corners, to prevent round-off. 72-tooth ratchet gear needs only a 5-degree working swing arc. Open end is angled 15 degrees so the wrench can be flipped over to engage fasteners twice as often in tight spaces

Nice wrench love the ratchet

If you have a Pentair CCP pool filter this wrench is a must. It took me 10-15 minutes to remove the filter clamp on my first try. It took about a minute with a Tekton wrench. And it saved even more time to reinstall the clamp. I'm sure there are other keys out there but Tekton is well done and did a great job on this particular task.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Functionality

Ok but the ratchet is larger than 1/4 "

While the open end is .250" the closed end of the ratchet is .275" between the flats. Hex 1/4" (e.g. 1 hex screwdriver / 4 inch) will do, but is sloppy so I give it 2 stars. Use the open end for high torque and the ratchet end for light torque. Makes a nice low profile *very* short/staggered. Wrench in combination with standard 1/4" hex sockets (short sockets without locking).

  • Dope 🔥

Great short wrench - and very short

This is my second wrench - I also have a 13mm. They're great for lots of quick home projects. FYI, it's shorter than most short wrenches on the market and certainly smaller than those sold at Lowes. It has a six point head that captures better than 12 points. I've never understood why a ratchet has twelve points when most do, because the head rotates a little.

Pros
  • Solid finish
Cons
  • Minor issues

Love these wrenches

I ordered this wrench for a specific job that required working in tight spaces and this wrench did the job. The wrench feels nice and the ratchet feels sturdy, with just enough teeth to allow me a click or two even in a tight spot. Up until now, wrenches have stayed in my toolbox while I used my socket set for pretty much everything. This wrench got me reconsidering the usefulness of a ratchet wrench set to complement my socket wrench sets. Nice addition to my tool box.

Pros
  • High test scores for grip and durability
Cons
  • No

Saved me hours on a 7.3 PSD

This was purchased to remove the rearmost bolt on a 97 F-250 7.3 Powerstroke valve cover. I removed one side without it and it literally took hours to undo a rear screw. Fight, shove your paws in all directions, say bad words, check YouTube, repeat. (The glow plugs took 10 minutes each) With this one on the other side, I removed the bolt in five minutes. And for those who reached the stud through the wheel arch, this helps from above. As my father used to say, "Anytime you think someone needs a

This key saved me from jail

I bought this key because I just got a new license plate and my state needed it replaced within 30 days. I had nothing - NOTHING - to loosen the screws holding the license plate. Of course I went to Walmart. I waited three hours in traffic to get to the mentioned Walmart. Said Walmart didn't have the key I needed. How are the chances. Luckily Revane got through and I was able to reach my office before they closed to get a package that contained a wrench! But not just a wrench—a wrench that…

Questionable ratchet

This wrench came with my motor kayak (Mokai) and at first seemed like a really well made tool. The finish is beautiful and the compact size was perfect for not over tightening the screws as you really can't get much leverage out of it. I have screws with built in stops so they seem like the perfect tool. It served under the blanket for about a year, but then moisture got into the ratchet mechanism and it failed. So if it never gets into a high humidity area it might work fine, but a better…

  • Best in its niche

Ratchet end no longer works

I have bought a few different Tekton tools, this is the first that seems to be of poor quality. The ratchet end of this wrench failed after fairly limited use. It is always kept in the tool box and is used to tighten/loosen a screw that is difficult to access. It looks like the "you get what you pay for" case with this particular wrench, given the "ratchet" end, is kind of a reason you'd buy it. It may well be that sticking to the basics with inexpensive brands is the way to go. I hate giving…

Pros
  • 72 tooth ratchet requires only 5 degrees of operating angle
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Good, but not perfect: power and hand tools

They advertised the Hex as a reason why which is good. In fact, this is the only real scam. It doesn't fall nearly as easily as a 12-point notched wrench. It could be stronger, but the steel they use for these notched key inserts is so strong I rhyme with it and have never had a single sign of wear or rounding. If he had 12 points, that would be perfect. Now in the socket it's another 12 pets that aren't made for much torque and can round the bolts. A gear wrench doesn't have this problem as…

Pros
  • The hole at the end of the box is designed to catch the flat sides of the screw heads, not the corners to prevent rounding
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Inferior to a regular non-ratchet crescent wrench

I bought this wrench to tighten the chain on my fixed wheel bike. To do this, tighten and loosen the two nuts by 15 mm. When tension is applied above a certain threshold, the ratchet will slip. This renders the ratchet end of the wrench - wait - completely useless. Again using the traditional crescent end of the wrench to tighten the nuts all the way down, I thought how ridiculous it was to pay for what was essentially a single ended crescent wrench. I'm not sure if the product I received is…

Pros
  • 6 point socket fits snugly in the hex heads of the fasteners and prevents slipping during use
Cons
  • Very expensive
