I tried using a cloth but found a foam brush worked much better. It will take 2-3 coats for even coverage depending on how badly your plastic has faded. My Rav4 has a lot of finish so it takes a while but it's not difficult to apply. Let's see how it behaves over time...

This product seems to work well even after one coat of paint. I strongly advise you to be careful when using this product as its viscosity is very low.
