Useless waste: kitchen and dining room

What a disappointment! The probe was completely pulled out of the plastic case halfway through the first use. The temperature didn't even remotely match the well-done steak. It is clear that no calibration has taken place. Just because you see numbers doesn't make them meaningful. I sent it back. Even at the low price it wasn't worth it.

It takes forever to read

I bought it to use in candle making so it's a good thing I didn't need exact accuracy every second because I would never get it that way . It takes forever to take readings and since I didn't have a clamp I couldn't attach it to the side of the pot while it takes the temperature. While the digital display is handy given the time it takes to take the temperature, I'd prefer to read a dial thermometer because at least it's instantaneous. So yes, it works, but it's slow and annoying.

Not easy to use! on Thermometers and Timers

My thermometer has to be turned on and off constantly to take the temperature. It displays random letters and numbers, and after turning on and off, it displays the temporary temperature several times. It doesn't show temperature rise or fall, you have to keep turning it on and off to get a new temperature, making it useless when you're trying to reach a certain temperature, like making candy. I don't think it's actually high enough to be used as a candy thermometer as advertised. I discovered…

Slowly showing correct temperature

I think you get what you pay for. It's not a bad thermometer, but if you need an instant temperature reading, this might not be for you. It slowly heats up the temperature of the meat. It's workable, even more so when you're running it under a hot faucet that's close to your desired temperature. Its temperature display is also good for checking the kettle grill temperature. I just stuck a probe into the vents (not the plastic part!) on the lid and it will read the temp, not a bad side use. It…

Inaccurate temp reading

Cannot serve a purpose - accurate temp reading. I put it in boiling water and it took 30 seconds to get close to 207F. It should have been 212F. I let it cool to room temperature. My house thermostat reads 74 F and this thermometer reads somewhere between 65 and 80 F in a 3 foot radius. Then I put it in an ice bath and it read 22 to 34 F depending on movement in the bath. It should read 32F. For reference, I bought another digital thermometer from Revain that advertised an accuracy of +/- 2F…
