Best tool for the job

If you've never used one of these anchor pin tools, you're missing out. Pushes out even the most stubborn anchor pins. Makes working with the brakes easier.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Expensive

Get your brakes right!

Excellent tool, removes even stubborn anchor pins and bushings. Mine has been factory made since 1979 and it showed. There's a reason each kit comes with new pins and bushings.

Pros
  • Excellent all round performance
Cons
  • Fragile

The Fastest Way to Remove Pins and Sockets

This tool is literally worth its weight in gold. Combine this with a 3/4 inch impact tool and you should be able to remove anchor pins and bushings in 5 minutes or less once you get used to using this tool. Just make sure you have a 3/4" deep drive. 7/8" SHOCK 6pt. The only way this tool could be any better is if the tool had a 3/4" socket that casts directly into the tool rather than using a 7/8" socket.

Pros
  • Alright!
Cons
  • Negative is available

A truck mechanic must have

Bought because I started at another shop and they didn't use Neversieze for anchor pins. So I had to break out the pressing tool for every braking job. , which was too bulky to get past the steering hubs. So we spent a lot of time trying to get the old pins out with torches and a hammer. We used this tool on a steer axle brake for the first time last week. That one piece of work played for itself: the bell on the edge that the square cuts into was still snug on the hub, but still worked great.

Pros
  • Good product for its price
Cons
  • Frequency

over 21,000 tractor units/trailers in my company.

and now I think I'm second to actually change pins for the whole company. I've only seen 2 devices that have had their pins replaced recently, so someone else, probably the only guy who made them, was there recently. However, this tool is an absolute beast, I have no doubts about this tool. The pins I'm dealing with are frozen with deep grooves. I usually stop my Matco 2779 or Makita xtw08, bang on the belts where the bushings are pressed into until I get a good smack from the pin and pressure…

Pros
  • A few competitors
Cons
  • unreliable
