The module has the same specifications as the Synology module but is expensive. It passed the "Synology Assistant" memory test with no errors, although it took 4 hours to complete the test, but that's a normal runtime. According to Synology Support, please note that if you don't use the original memory module, you may lose support for NAS memory issues.

When I first tried this on My Synology NAS, the device didn't recognize the ram. I wrote a request for help and very quickly received instructions on how to try a few things. I tried it and it worked. Now it works very well. Good product and even better customer service.

This memory works with DS1821+ with no error messages. I'm not sure if it's ECC memory or not. Synology recommends ECC, which I believe has built-in parity. Given the price difference, it's definitely worth buying. It's only been on my system for 2 days of heavy use and has worked flawlessly so far. Will update if I run into problems later.
