TORCHSTAR LED Exit Sign: Double Face, Battery Backup, UL 924, Damp Location - Pack of 2 Review

The sign was better than expected for the money. It's easy to work with, although 2 things could be better. The extra wire access holes inside and the front panel clamping areas weren't placed the same distance up and down, so while it looks like it could be mounted either side up, it isn't. When attaching to a wall, etc., make sure the front panel is facing the right way before attaching the label. Although it works great.

We like the standard clean look and the bright but not too bright lobby exit sign lighting. Fastening to the wall in the middle. Hard plastic tabs are very difficult to break through; they should be much better pre-perforated. The electrical connections are easy to make and well marked. Overall a probable score of 3.5 would be a 5 were it not for the difficulty of installing it in the middle of the wall. (I'm not sure if other models are easier to wall mount.)

Bought two of these for an outdoor venue. I installed them under the roof but close to the walls above the doors. They installed it quite easily, but hiding the wiring so it wouldn't block the light in the sign was a little trick. After the correct installation, the lamps shone and proved themselves flawlessly. Great signs. Replaced old signs that had become unusable, even rusty, from being installed outdoors under a canopy. They can be configured to mount to a ceiling or wall box, with the arrows pointing either way, depending on which knockouts you remove. They even offer a second backing if you need an exit sign on both sides. Yes, the plastic feels a little flimsy, but they hold up better in outdoor moisture than the metal signs I replaced.
