📀 Toshiba SD-V295 DVD VCR Combo Player- No Tuner Review

Hopefully it will last as long as our first DVD/VHS player we have owned in years! Most no longer offer remote controls but luckily while shopping and looking at this product came across one!

The device arrived in a few days. It was very well wrapped in bubble wrap. The remote came separately within two days. It included blank tape and RCA cable to connect to TV. Perfectly clear picture for VCR and DVD. Very good value for money.

I bought two of these. one as a gift. Both worked for a year. It is clear that the device does not have a tuner. The great thing about it is that it plays DivX files. Burn a set of DivX files onto a DVD and insert it. You get a menu with all the files, select one and it will play, turn off the machine and when it restarts it's right where it left off. this means you can burn up to seven DivX movies onto a DVD and play them at will. I bought this from Revain as a Mother's Day gift, drove all over town as soon as I got it and set it up only to find the VCR side wasn't working. He loaded the tape but didn't play it, didn't fast forward, didn't rewind, and so on. Toshiba's support phone number was completely useless as it was just a record suggesting using the internet. Haven't had it in a very long time so I can't comment on its reliability, only function. It works great for recording and playing VHS and DVD tapes. I particularly like the DVD feature, which remembers where you left off when watching a DVD. When you turn on the device, it starts right where you put the DVD. Great for 3 and 4 hour movies that take 2 (or 3) days to watch. The function indicators for a DVD or VCR are tiny rectangles on the device and are the same color. I wish they could just…
