This is the controller of the Omada system. At its core, its function is to manage all the access points of the Omada system. After connecting, all points will be visible only in its interface. The setup is simple and stable. It's strange, but Tp link, learned to do decent things :)

Essential gear if you have > 1 TP-Link AP but a bit complex

I bought this to manage my 2 TP-Link EAP245 APs and I'm glad I did have. The wifi coverage in my house is much better now. My quick tip is to update the firmware on everything right away and you're good to go. My biggest gripe is that they walk you through this whole wizard and setup process before you actually get into it, and then it's easy to forget the most important thing: always update the firmware first. The old and the new firmware are completely different. So if you're just thinking…

Pros
  • Fast switching
Cons
  • Infinitely slow

You may not need it, but it's cool

If you have a LAN server that isn't busy enough (windows or linux) then you can Download and install the free Omada Cloud Controller software and you don't need this device. Or if you don't have many Omada access points and don't mind configuring each one manually, then you don't need this device. I'm in the second camp (only 2 Omada AC1350 APs), but I've decided to go ahead and spend $$ on it anyway. I may get an AC1200 backyard access point this summer that will fit my network and be…

Pros
  • Like everyone else so far
Cons
  • I have no aversion to it, everything's fine

This controller is great!

This controller is required if you want to use more than one TP Link Omada access point. While access points work offline without this controller, the controller turns them all into one networked system that you can set up however you like, or you can just let the software control everything if you don't want to set it up or maybe you lack the technical know-how -how. The controller takes individual control of each access point, allowing them to be managed from one place. You can create…

Improved AEP245 APs

In short, I had many problems with TP-Link AEP245 APs before I got this one and now I don't have any. This is the best alternative to a mesh system if you have Ethernet in multiple locations in your home. I have a big house and lots of smart devices. I had trouble getting a good WiFi signal in remote corners of the house and my router kept crashing due to too many WiFi clients. I've considered using a mesh system, but since I have ethernet in multiple locations throughout the house, I would…
