The right product for me, there were no problems.

Pros: Power, really holds over 150 clients! , MIMO, AirMax, TDMA technologies - isn't that fantastic? The Linux-programmable AirOs operating system can be upgraded as you wish. Its cons: It would be nice if the case held up to -50. Thermal boxes are very expensive, 2 times more expensive than Rocket M!

Still a great base station

Bought this Rocket M2 to replace a 6 year old similar model. Was able to hook it up and get it working fairly easily and the signal strength seems better than the old one when it was new. Very happy with the performance so far and also that I didn't have to relearn a whole new model or language to disable it.

  • Mostly good but...

Bought this product to add myself to the AREDN local network. I flashed it with AREDN software and use it on ham radio bands. Setup was pretty easy when I realized I was thinking too much. I can connect it to my computer via an HP AirRouter, also flashed with AREDN software, acting as another AREDN node. Unfortunately I'm in the middle of a river valley and most of the other AREDN operators are on the other side of the hills. However, the actual block is quite satisfactory. I just need to…

This works great but has very high sensitivity to storms

We lose one every week. Every week we get a storm. We have them on a 60 foot tower that is 30 feet tall. The tower is well grounded with several ground wires, and the coax cable runs into a conduit at the base and about 15 feet, then 6 feet up to a weatherproof enclosure with UPS and grounded outlets. But only a quarter of a mile away, lightning strikes. Others we know with this product don't have these issues. So 5 stars are guaranteed if you don't have any problems with the weather.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • unreliable

This isn't the first Ubiquiti product I've ordered and it won't be the last. They bring commercial functionality to consumer priced products and have a fantastic line of products that will satisfy almost any consumer or small commercial customer need. Of the four different products I bought, they all share a common user interface, so I don't have to relearn the basic settings for products with different purposes. This particular product is very versatile as you can use it with a matching…
