No USB 3.x speed!

This product says it's a USB 3.1 G2 device, but I don't see those speeds. I uploaded 2 screenshots. The first is connected to my SSD with this case. The second screenshot is the same SSD connected to my SATA Anker USB 3.0 adapter. The screenshots speak for themselves. USB cable from another manufacturer. I've seen the same slow results.

Good SATA drive enclosure

I just bought an M1 Mac Mini and wanted to expand the storage space available so I bought this enclosure for an old 480GB SATA SSD I had laying around . Installation took less than 2 minutes, and macOS Big Sur recognized the drive immediately when I plugged it into my Mac Mini's USB-C port. Since then absolutely no problems. I feel a little warmth when I put my hand on the case, but I think it has more to do with the drive inside.

Throws without warning

I bought one of these and put an SSD in it, tried to use it as a backup drive. Before the backup was complete, I got the message "The disk was not ejected properly". Make sure it's connected securely, try again and get the same result. Revain sent me a replacement quickly. Received the next day. Same result: called spontaneously. I returned both and bought the key instead. The first and second backup with two SSDs went without any problems. Zero for two is not the best outcome.

Not a speed monster On par with other SATA III cases

Screenshot shows Western Digital Black WD7500BPKT 2.5 inch. About 100MB/s. The drive supports a maximum of 3.0 Gbps. which should be a theoretical maximum of 375 MB/s. I understand some of it, but it's mechanical, so uh. That's about what I expected, but it's no speed demon. I'm a bit surprised I don't get 150MB/s. at least. However, the case feels solid and the tool-less design makes it easy to service. Removing the bottom cover can be a little tricky and doesn't like to come off easily. This…

IT WORKS! Perfect!

Easy installation, no tools required, minimalist design. I bought an ORICO hard drive enclosure. The build quality and design of UGREEN is much better than others. I returned another one because it crashed my computer every time I tried to back up via the time machine. First try with UGREEN and it worked perfectly. Didn't know it would match my MacBook Pro Space Gray perfectly. The SSD fits perfectly between the foam pads. I can't find anything bad about this case.

UASP works fine, sleep mode works fine.

I connected this to my Mac mini with a 1TB Samsung EVO 850 SSD. UASP works fine as I can read SMART data from disk. The previous case/dock couldn't do this, so it's really good. The auto sleep feature is either disabled or the Mac ignores it. I always leave my Mac mini on. This drive contains my home directory (the internal drive is too small for my needs). When using the Mac, there is only a very short delay before I am prompted for the splash screen password. I don't see any disk disconnect…

Extraordinary body. Correctly recognized by OSX Catalina.

This is an exceptional SSD enclosure. My Mac with Catalina is case sensitive. The chipset used is the highly reliable ASM235CM controller. I used a 4TB Sandisk SSD in this case and it works exceptionally well. Also recognizes a 250GB Samsung drive I pulled out of a Windows computer (exfat) and I can read the files on my Mac. This is the best external hard drive enclosure I have ever used. I only have one suggestion: can you make an SSD only version so it's much more compact? For example, Vantec

Easy to use and fast (as fast as I can get from a SATAIII drive) - 560MB read

I am happy with the UGreen external drive enclosure so far. I connected it to the USB-C port on my motherboard (ASUS Prime X570 Pro) and got really good speeds. Some have complained about the speed, but for me the disk enclosure works just fine with the ASM1051 controller. TRIM works fine - if you're curious like me. Windows 10 functionality is great with full control over the external drive features available. I have a Samsung 860 EVO SSD in an enclosure and am getting the expected results for

Overall well made with some mixed results

Overall this case is well made, easy to install and delivers the expected speed (except Mac, see below). Pros: - Good materials: aluminum, soft-touch plastic - Easy to install (no tools required) - Meets expected speeds, mostly Cons: - A bit thick. I wish the interior wasn't covered in plastic. If there was only aluminum in contact with the SSD, it would act as a heat sink and save space. Mac speed tests were either very slow or fast (not sure if this is due to the drive or Mac OS).
