This is my second USB extender and when I connected it to my 2020 MacBook Pro I have even more USB ports that work great. It's always connected to my Mac and I'm very happy with its capacity and constant use. A totally handy device to extend Apple's limited access to peripherals.

On my new M1 AirBook I tried Apple adapters to add my big screen via HDMI, I had bad connection issues, video loss etc etc. Unfortunately the Apple SuperDrive doesn't work with this adapter over standard USB ports - probably won't come enough power via the USB ports - you have to switch to Apple adapters to write archives.

I like the form factor of this adapter, I used it daily for several months. But in the end the input pins/ports just didn't touch. I don't think I damaged or bent them, it just stopped. Attempting to delete the input ports on my MacBook as well as the contacts themselves was unsuccessful. As a last resort, I tried wiggling the contacts a bit to make contact, but that didn't work. I ended up going with another product that had a cable instead of a direct mount to reduce this risk.

EDIT - HDMI port stopped working. Never touch or move the cable. Have tested the cable/monitor with other devices and confirmed it is a hub port. Less than a month has passed - poor quality product. Works as intended - takes both ports on the left and has 1 USB-C, HDMI and 3 USB inputs. A little concerned about a small gap underneath. Anything putting pressure on it could likely bend the mount or damage your ports, but that's unlikely if you just leave your MacBook on the table like I did.

I like the usefulness of this adapter. My only gripe is that it's less thick than the MacBook Pro, so it doesn't rest on the tabletop. So when you plug in a USB-C power cable or an HDMI cable, it pulls out and puts a lot of pressure on the two USB-C connectors that come with the laptop. At some point they fail. I wish it was a bit thicker or with different sized sticky rubber feet for various newer MacBooks. It works very well and doesn't get very hot considering it's powering the laptop.

This item works very well with my MacBook. The only problem is that plugging and unplugging this hub from your MacBook every day will loosen the USB-C pins on the device. This leads to a weak connection and sometimes the connection does not work. It can also be damaged if left on the laptop during transport. So I separate, adding to the cycle of connecting and disconnecting. It needs some tweaking on its endurance as I've had it for about six months now and need to power it up to connect well…

Takes only two TB ports on Macbook Air M1 and returns one. So it's about power. Got it because of the 3 USB ports and used HDMI when traveling. This is perfect for my WFH setup. It has all the ports I need for my daily work, and since everything connected to my device is connected through a hub, I can very easily disconnect it when I go to the couch or to another room to answer a call and reconnect When I get back to my desk, I like to just unplug the hub, not each cable individually.
