I think all the one star reviews are not a review of the product itself but deluded expectations? Blue litmus paper turns red when exposed to an acidity of 0-6.9 PH and this can be seen in the product photo. I only need to test acidity and don't need red paper to test bases so that's what I expected. If you need a blue and red or universal indicator; it's not that. Keep looking. I use it to see if my stash of flash paper (nitrocellulose) is degrading and therefore needs to be disposed of before
