The right tool at the right price

Was replacing the fuel pump on my Ram 1500. Saw a lot of videos showing people using screw driver and such to put the locking ring back on. I tried several times, and it wasn't working. greased the ring and had a friend help with a second screwdriver. Life has taught me not to bend over a dollar to pick up a dime. Bought the tool and installation was quick and easy. Rather buy the right tool, than risk breaking stuff and paying 4x more.

Pros
  • ‎8.35 x 4.02 x 3.46 inches
Cons
  • May require additional safety equipment for proper use (gloves, safety glasses, etc.

Just what I needed on my review.

This makes your job a lot easier to get off the seal cap. But if you have a lot of patience to do it the boot leg way by all means do you. But I definitely recommend it.

Pros
  • Absolutely a must have for a pump replacement.
Cons
  • May not work well on older or vintage vehicles with unique fuel delivery systems

This tool is not as "universal " as you may need

The description says this tool is universal and gives examples of some vehicles it will fit. I have a 2008 Kia Optima (same as a Hyundai Sonata), and needed a tool to remove the lock ring, so took a chance. On arrival, I was disappointed to find that this is made for a lock ring nearly 2 inches larger than mine. It's a very heavy duty tool, though, and I was impressed with its quality. Also, my refund was very promptly remitted as soon as the returned tool was received. I bought a Lisle 6000…

Pros
  • If you live in the rust belt and have a chevy, this is the tool you need!!
Cons
  • May be difficult to grip and maneuver in tight spaces

Great tool for the rusted ring

I first tried an adjustable tool which broke on first attempt to loosen the lock ring. Though the lock ring was rusty, I had used a rust removal spray to try to assist. With this tool (and some good leverage) the ring popped right off. Highly recommend for those tough rings.

Pros
  • Worked great!!
Cons
  • Risk of damaging fuel pump sender wires or connections during removal/installation
