The batteries had to be replaced immediately because they differed from the one already installed. There is no insulator between batteries and contacts to save batteries. I ended up paying almost double for it as the batteries were almost the same price as the unit.

2 ordered, both were DOA. Came back and got 2 replacements, one was good the other was DOA but worked when I changed the batteries. So plan for dead batteries and order LR44/AG13 (requires 2 per thermometer). And if you're ordering batteries here, ignore "Prime" and the shipping date listed - I finally gave up after FIVE different battery listings with Prime 2 day shipping in the search turned out to be 2 to 5 day shipping in the shopping cart.

There are TWO PCB options. BOTH can be changed to show degrees Fahrenheit. BOTH require you to connect two dots. The picture shows a single 2 pin and a 3 pin. This device is powered by two LR 44 cells connected in parallel, one fitted upside down and the other shorted. So one cell is at 1.5V and the other is at 0. This unit is truly designed for through the panel installation. It snaps into a rectangular hole in a panel or box, etc. When used in this manner, it provides a fairly "clean" installation. However, you'll need to get into the box or behind the fairing to swap out the batteries if necessary.
