Precise skin measuring tool.

Seems to be suitable for measuring skin thickness, which is why I bought it. Comes with a protective case with a nice foam cutout for storage. The price was reasonable.

Precise work is far away for my undemanding use.

So far this matches the electronic version I have. The finish for me is much better than most that I have looked at from enlarged product photos. The screw holding it in the closed position looks like it needs to be tightened more than necessary. Yes, the bezel is plastic and while it seems accurate now, for the money I'm curious how long it will stay that way. Now the accuracy at this price level is very different from the accuracy of a real machine tool. Suitable for measuring skin thickness.

Pros
  • Test, Measure & Inspect
Cons
  • Crumpled

Perfect measurement, just make sure you balance the bars

I've read reviews from people that the measurements were inaccurate. I assume they don't offset the bars. That's what I mean. The device says that when the measuring sticks are closed and empty (there's no skin between them) the dial should read 0.1mm, not 0. So you'll have to turn the black outer wheel for this to be true. This now means that if you hold the device and don't press the measuring sticks, the scale will read about 0.6mm. You might think it would be 0, but it isn't. See my photos…

  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
