It works great with both Windows 10 and macOS. Big Sur

I need a USB video capture for my Mac Big Sur to digitize all my HI8 and miniDV tapes I had a long time ago. It's pretty cheap on Revain and a lot of the reviews were bad for Windows, but the reviews for Mac were good, so I bought it. Yes, macOS Big Sur works great with Quicktime Movie Recording, but it also works with OBS Studio. After finishing all my videos, I tried Windows 10 and found that it works great with my laptop and desktop. It even works with all three programs: Movie Maker, OBS…

Don't waste your time and money

The product didn't work. Communication with 24 tech support was poor. I was redirected to a non-existent page. Even after telling them the site was down, I was redirected back to the same page. waste of money.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • I don't really like it, it's ok

Looks Terrible Best in Computers & Accessories

Product works but looks very poor. I've tried different USB ports that didn't change anything, used different tapes, used different VCRs and it still looks awful. The image is grainier than on tape and often colorless. Will return.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Weight

Works great on Macintosh

Very easy to use on Macintosh - no special drivers needed. You simply connect it to your VCR or camcorder and the USB end to your computer, open QuickTime Player and choose New Video Recording from the File menu. From these, you can click the record button wherever you want. You can use QuickTime Player to remove unwanted parts so you can capture something before and after the clip you want so you don't miss anything. The quality of the recorded clip depends on the cassette you inserted into…

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Bad experience

Great price easy to use

The instructions aren't bad - but if you're using a Mac you can follow their instructions to use Quicktime and "record a new movie". You may need to go to System Preferences/Security & Privacy and allow Quicktime camera and microphone access. Then select the device from the drop-down menu when ready to "capture new film" for the camera and microphone and it works like a charm. The quality can be as good as the source - in my case a crappy VHS - so the picture quality was fine for me.

Pros
  • Fair price
Cons
  • Makes me nervous
