The Weeknd – Dawn FM 2LP "Dawn FM" is the fifth studio album by Canadian recording artist The Weeknd, released on January 7, 2022 through XO and Republic Records. The album was recorded primarily between 2020 and 2021 and features the voice of Jim Carrey, vocals by Tyler, the Creator and Lil Wayne, and performances by Quincy Jones and Josh Safdie. The album was produced by The Weeknd, Max Martin, Oneohtrix Point Never, Oscar Holter, Calvin Harris and Swedish House Mafia. The announcement took place on January 3, 2022. The Weeknd described the album''s concept as a state of purgatory - a journey to the "light at the end of the tunnel" that will serve as a follow-up to his fourth studio album After Hours (2020). Musically, Dawn FM is an album containing dance-pop and synth-pop songs heavily inspired by the new wave, funk and electronic dance music styles of the 1980s. Upon its release, the release received widespread acclaim from music critics, who praised its production and melodies. Two singles were released from the album, with the lead single "Take My Breath" peaking at number six on the US Billboard Hot 100. The Weeknd promoted "Dawn FM" with an Amazon Music concert on the day of the album''s release, in which he acted as a disc jockey and performed the album in front of an audience.
Abel Makkonen Tesfaye (born February 16, 1990, Toronto, Ontario, Canada), better known by his stage name The Weeknd, is a Canadian singer-songwriter and record producer of Ethiopian origin. In late 2010, Tesfaye anonymously uploaded several songs to YouTube under the name "The Weeknd". Throughout 2011, he released three mixtapes of 9 songs each: "House of Balloons", "Thursday" and "Echoes of Silence", which were critically acclaimed. A year later, the musician released the Trilogy compilation: thirty tracks, consisting of remastered versions of the mixtape material and three additional tracks. The album was released on Republic Records and his own label XO. In 2013, The Weeknd released their debut studio album Kiss Land, which was supported by the singles Kiss Land and Live For. His second album, Beauty Behind the Madness, was the singer''s first number one album on the Billboard 200, including the Top 5 single "Earned It" and the number one singles "The Hills" and "Can'' t Feel My Face. The songs simultaneously held the top three spots on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart, making him the first artist in history to achieve this feat. Tesfaye won two Grammy Awards and was nominated for an Oscar. In September 2016, the release of the third album called "Starboy" was announced and the lead single "Starboy" was released, which subsequently hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The release of the album "Starboy" took place on November 25, 2016. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and topped it.
