I've had this with cheap nameless or branded alarms. Pay a little more and get a Viper. They last for decades and if you ever lose or break your remote 15 years from now, you can still get a replacement.

The only negative lock / unlock is through the same button. So if you need to make sure you've locked your car, you technically have to first unlock and then lock it again and hear a chirp to confirm when you're far away.
