It worked, I just don't know if I have the right coil

It works pretty well at first, heating the deck propeller to red hot in about 20 seconds. Not sure if my coil dimensions were correct in everything and it ended up with mosfets smoke.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • No automatic

Works good and fun

Fun, I've built an induction heater for small projects with mine and it works great. Throw in some 12 volt batteries in series and a switch and you're done. Before switching on, make sure that a coil is connected to the output.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Expensive

Hefty Little PCB - Power Supplies

This board costs a few bucks more than the cheapest but component wise is easier to repair. The spool was not included but it was fun trying different gauge wires and spools. The 1" 8 gauge, 8 turn coil worked best for me without overheating the transistors. I only heat 1/4" dia. or less objects for maybe 20 sec @12V, 5-10A.

Pros
  • Rugged Construction
Cons
  • High Price

It's easy to draw too much current

The device works as advertised but I messed up the IGBT on mine by getting the work piece too close to the coil (my hand slipped) and a lot draws more power than the system can handle. . I didn't short the terminals because the coil was insulated. All of this indicates that you are using a current-limiting power supply or putting a fuse on the input.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Zero
