Bought for my grandson who is only 7 months old. This is such a perfect little toy for little hands. He plays a few tunes, has flashing lights (in his cheeks), barks naturally, and is very colorful. I bought one of these for my out of state niece and her 3 month old baby. Of course I had to play with him myself – that was very nice. I liked that the puppy starts talking or singing when you shake it. I left him on the couch for a second and when I came back our cat was looking at him mesmerized. One of our best toys. We didn't want to give up electronic toys but our son loves anything that lights up and I was looking for an interactive rattle toy. The underside of the rattle is rather nondescript as the center bar can be difficult to grasp with practiced hands, although the black parts are made from a softer rubber plastic making it GREAT to chew on and the beads make just enough noise to be noticeable without being annoying to be. This toy does a pretty fantastic job of teaching cause
