I was hesitant to order because I was concerned it would be too big, but it fits perfectly in a hamster cage. The kit contains exactly one liter for one application. Nice little owl. Now all that remains is to get the hamster to use it.

I received this today and although the pan was perfect the "junk" provided was dust. Don't use it! Dust can kill your hamster! It looks like it could be sand, but as soon as anything moves, the dust kicks up like crazy.

I wasn't sure about litter box training but yes you can. Although he chose the place where he would go, all I had to do was place the tray and pen in that place. Now, three or four times a week, I just throw out the old pen and add a new one. Now he just rummages in the filing cabinet. Sir Isaac seems very happy in his always clean and spotless cage.

Had to tag it to post! Deserves a 0. My daughter used this for her hedgehog. He was put in his cage on Christmas Eve and she caught him eating on Christmas Day and pulled him out. She went to take him to his usual nightly routine while she was reading and he was DEAD. He is less than a year old and nothing else has changed in his daily routine. Now I have devastated 16 years.

Ok this is mostly for me but do your research before you buy a litter box. I bought it because it was cheap and I loved the dustpan AND the trash with it! But he's tiny. Nothing but mice (and about two mice, otherwise you'd change them every day) or a hamster that could use it. The scoop is so small I don't think it makes sense to use it, just dump it out and dump the litter back in. I haven't tried the filler, so I can't comment on that. This was a great size for our Syrian hamster. We didn't use the included "litter" but dust-free play sand. Our little ones immediately started playing/bathing in it and then used it as a smaller box. It's the perfect size for a hamster, it's good that it sits in a corner to save space. Save the tie included in the set.
