Waterwise 4000 Post Filter Replacement Review

I bought these to use with the Waterwise Water Distiller. The first few batches came out mostly fine (just a few grains of activated carbon/filter material), but as I filtered some more water (maybe another 10 gallons?) it started depositing more and more activated carbon with each filtration cycle. A bit frustrating considering I spent all that money on this unit and its zero waste distilled water filters.

Although I'm generally happy with these filters for my Waterwise still, I want to mention one big problem: when I change these filters and open the big red square tab there is often excess charcoal behind the screen. It is always too late to return or contact the seller. I also think they overestimate what you get. I'm considering buying coal and refueling myself. When you get them, open all the red tabs asap and check for broken screens so you can go back to the 30 day window.

I have not used the distillery without a filter. I put a tick on the wall and for my area here in Florida I can get about 70-75 gallons out of a filter before noticing any deterioration in water quality. I have recommended this product to others and they change their filters by marking the calendar every month or every other month. I drink an average of 3-4 gallons a day because I'm a dog breeder and that's what they drink, so I use the ticks on paper method to get the most out of the filter…
