I like the halter itself but after a few days out in the rain it smells like mold. I like the convenience of the thickness, but it retains moisture and smells moldy. I tried to tumble dry it but it spins and scratches inside. I ended up baking it in the oven but I was afraid it would melt. Very practical in their own way.

These halters are amazing. I have purple which is current from 2004. I just bought a red one for my dad's horse and it looks great on him. The padding is nice and doesn't rub hair off your nose. When dirty, they can be easily cleaned by hosing down. The color stripe will remain vibrant for years, unlike regular nylon halters which quickly fade over time. Many of my friends have them and love them too.

Good product but snug on my 6.5" Irish Sport Horse. The buckle hole is on the horse's cheek, which I consider a design flaw as it seems like it will rub with prolonged wear. The leather halter broke on first use as the horse pulled back. Definitely worked, but I won't be using it again because it's a bit small for my big-headed friend and I don't like the design of the cheek rubbing buttons. Good product but not suitable for my needs.

I am very happy with this halter (I bought 2). It's well made and I think it's so smart that instead of the entire crown, there's just a small leather tab on the side that always stretches and breaks easily. In the summer I like to dress my horses in fly cloaks (I find them cooler than masks) which means they have to wear halters. I also worry about horses stuck in the trailer. This breakaway halter has a nicely lined nose bridge and headband. The ad was a bit misleading, it says leather but look closely those lace halters. The only leather detail is the detachable strap. I ordered purple and it was true to color when I received it. The only thing I don't like is the durability.
