Poorly made not as described

Product broke after 3 uses, the metal buckled and trying to bend it back into place the metal broke. Very cheap metal, not heavy at all. The only strength here is the grip.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Zero

Stable, beautiful metal housing, well made.

This is a very strong and well made tool. However, I couldn't make very thin cuts with it. I may need more practice, but I think the problem is the opening width and blade angle.

  • Acceptable

Better than I expected

"Heavy Duty" - it's not! This slicer is much stronger than I expected. Cuts cheese very well and perfect thickness. Other reviewers have complained about the cheddar breaking at the end of the piece, but I don't know if that can be fixed. The Swiss discs are wonderful!

Pros
  • Good looks
Cons
  • Security

The best cheese cutter.

I've always had a love/hate relationship with cheese slicers because if you get a good one they're awesome and if you get a bad one its far better not to have any at all. That's great! Definitely the best I've ever used. My sister had one and as soon as I used it this weekend I ordered one! It is very durable, beautiful and sharp. It's hard to bend (and that's great!), but you can easily bend it as needed to get the cheese slice thickness you want. Very happy with it.

Pros
  • Finally bought it
Cons
  • No result

Why the harsh criticism? Slicer too thick

I bought this to slice European cheeses like Emmental, Gouda etc which are always sliced thin. This "German" slicer basically creates 1/8" thick slices. They're ridiculously thick. I can't imagine using a piece of Gruyere. As a slicer, it's well built, so 2 stars seems a bit unfair. Seriously what the heck is this thing my age old cheese cutter looks like this, it's made in the USA and does what it's supposed to do, but it's 30 years old and needs to be retired.

Pros
  • Positive only
Cons
  • String shorter than others

Great little cheese slicer - but beware...

If you like wafer-thin cheese for appetizers or recipes, you might like the Westmark cheese slicer. The advantages I appreciate are that it's made from a single piece of stainless steel with a sharp blade as a smooth part of a rounded triangular head so there's no risk of wire breaking. Its handle is made of hard black polymer with Westmark's signature red inlay. I don't particularly like the handle, although it should be easier for the user to hold than a regular solid stainless steel handle…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Includes negative
