I bought 2 of these when Freud's bit wore out after milling about 150 4" long, 3/16 deep, ½ slot width . made of solid maple. One of these cutters completed my project (about 500 extra slots and still works. They cost about a third more and are a much better product. I've been buying Whiteside cutters ever since.

White side as always. This is a great router. Clean, crisp, even edges with no plywood cracking and burning. It even cuts MDF to sharp, even edges. Plywood, MDF, hardwood, softwood and even things like vinyl. These beats are just great. I have a collection of white side bits and Freud bits and these two brands are by far the best bits for the money.

I tested this bit against the Bosch, CMT and Freud Diablo by making 48 inch long 5mm x 5mm cuts in melamine faced chipboard with a single speed CNC router of 18,000 rpm feed speed 4 m/min. The cut edge was examined with a magnifying glass every 10 cuts. The Whiteside bit took second place behind the CMT bit. Bit Cost: CMT, $15.32; White side, $14.60. Whiteside made in USA, SMT in Italy.
