Great colors to draw in

Whilst I understand Cotman Winsor Newton colors are for school children they remain beautiful and (for me) a pleasure to work with no matter what. I've used them to paint greeting cards (pictures shown here) and they look great on cotton paper - and more. I am very happy with them. I want a set of professional watercolors, but I need to save up for them first.

Pros
  • fingers crossed
Cons
  • too stupid

Really great for beginners

I only started a few weeks ago and this set has all the colors I need as a beginner. Of all the colors, Azure and Viridian are two colors that I find a little too weak. It was quite noticeable in the watercolor class I took, and my teacher's two colors (she uses DS) are comparable to mine. The rest of the shades still work well; They're great for beginners.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Requires rosette

Terrible palette design, good colors, just a bad palette.

Pans wobble a lot due to the construction of this pan. You can't push them in because of the grooves, so they rock back and forth when you try to paint. The color is good as you would expect from WN but the palette design is terrible. The bottom drawstring is difficult to get out, and when you put it back in, it's easy to pinch your fingers in the back. Opening the palette is terrible too! It's like everything is screwed up!

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Working speed

Strong pigments that mix well. Portable and practical.

Strong pigments that mix well. Excellent watercolors for school children. portability and practicality. The size 5 Cotman brush is 11.43 cm long. The paint trays measure 1.27 x 1.91 x 0.95 cm (0.5 x 0.75 x 0.375 inches). Pros: - Strong, non-grainy pigments that mix well. Portable and compact with 9 defined areas on the mixing pallet. Ability to swap out ink tanks or reuse tanks to store ink tubes. Good value for money. - The bottom pallet is difficult to pull out. I recommend using double sided

Pros
  • The set includes several mixing surfaces, a pull-out pallet and a plate for medium-sized products.
Cons
  • old

Finally, after several months of speculation, I've decided to buy my own pair of panties. I've only used white nights and found myself using more expensive paint for simple exercises. Ready to use right out of the box, Cotman paints have excellent buildability and vibrant colors, and the cuvettes are fairly easy to activate and rewet. One thing I hate is the palette. For the life of me I can't get the pans to stay firmly on the pallet so I resorted to duct tape to hold them in place but even…

Pros
  • Cotman water color has good transparency, excellent color strength and good processing properties.
Cons
  • Exorbitant piggy bank

amazing colors and great for travel but check the colors supplied.

I wanted a compact watercolor travel set. There are loads of them, and while I'm quite a beginner, I wanted decent quality - the best "students" class. I have some Arteza Metallic watercolors (oh my gosh!) and Prima watercolors (sooo good) so I wanted to use a name for my travel kit that I've heard of. I watched a lot of product review videos on YouTube and thought this was the set for me. And in many ways! i love the size I know it says it holds 14 half pans, but I actually have 20. Where the…
