The Call of the British Emergency Vehicle!

I bought one of these knowing it wasn't a Bermuda bell and that it contained only one bill. The Volo bell is a version of the repeating electric bells used on British ambulances until the 1960s when bells replaced two-tone horns. I love it.

Pros
  • Pretty Package
Cons
  • Boring Package

Additional info may be helpful

I bought this for a railroad crossing sign project in my son's room. The crossover lights were LED so they didn't use a lot of power, this thing drew over 15 amps (180 watts) while cycling. Now I'm scratching my head on how to salvage the project without adding a huge expensive power supply.

Pros
  • Hands Free Control
Cons
  • Protection

Item missing good for spares

The bell is pretty solid as advertised. However, the bracket was not attached to the bell or bundled with other parts. Rather than agonize over returns/replacements, I make one at home. We are installing a front bell on our hybrid Toyota. People keep stepping forward in parking lots and other places because they can't see or hear the electric motor. A reversing alarm system was installed for the same reason.

  • Price
Cons
  • Hard to tell

NO Ding Dong for Electrical

Very disappointed. The bell is listed in Ding Dong. I thought I'd get a copy of an old Bermuda bell. However, when I installed it, the call just went to Ding. I called the company and they admitted they misrepresented it. They told me to send it back for a refund. However, after paying the installation and the price. I'll live with that for a while. However, I suggest that you don't trust Volo. I've heard her other horns aren't doing very well.

Pros
  • Elegant Design
Cons
  • Faulty

Not for real use

When they say it shouldn't take more than 3 seconds, they mean it. Mine blew out within 10 minutes of installing it. Use a toggle switch and a blinker to pulse the bell as their solenoid only gives the bell a thump. Continuous use of say 30 seconds like you want in a city to warn people won't work with this call or you'll fry it. Too cheap for any automotive application. Why didn't the manufacturer consider this cycle time and ripple issue when assembling the device? I wouldn't buy any other.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Damaged
