Maybe all train whistles are like that, or maybe we just don't know how to blow them properly, but for the amount of air it seems, it's pretty quiet and we should blow. But the sound is great! And it smells like freshly cut wood, which is always nice.

I bought 8 of these train whistles as souvenirs for my son's birthday train party and only one made any noise and it was soft and poor quality. I have a similar whistle we bought from another company a few years ago that works great and every adult has tried and failed to make that sound, it wasn't technique. They are defective, don't waste your money. Very disappointed.

Loved this as a kid. My 2 year old is still trying to master it. He has a harmonica and a recorder but this mouthpiece is not easy because it is so big and yet if he opens his mouth too wide it goes over the rims not letting the sound out. However, this is a classic whistle that I loved as a kid! The noise is pleasant, not too loud and not annoying. Reminds me of a train :)

This whistle was exactly what I was looking for! There were several other cheaper options, but this one is high quality, like the American one. Our 20 month old had a bit of trouble getting through this but was able to do it with a little help and practice. The whistle's four notes also make it very bearable, rather than a high-pitched monotonous whistle. Also this pipe is the real deal and I'm so glad I spent an extra buck or two.

Parents are tired of euthanizing an excited rodent by the ankle, I know I was. Introducing this train whistle! Pop it in your mouth, smack it hard, and you and your baby will chase each other across the kitchen table until one or both of you pass out from exhaustion. Most of the time he gives up first but I skip some tai bo lessons so sometimes I am. Great whistle and all round fun!

I was a train driver at a costume ball, overalls, striped hat, gold watch and all that. Still, something was missing. Have a whistle. Sounds like a train whistle. Not quite sure how it would sound. Whistle of thick wood, about 6 inches long. Authentic! All you have to do is open wide and breathe deeply to get the best sound. The train signal code is burned out on one side. I won't say I was a hit at the party, but now I whistle Dixie. Excellent support.

My son LOVES his train whistle. He's memorized many of the patterns below (a really nice touch) and loves being asked about them - and asking others questions!
