My 12 year old son is 5'7" and about 95 pounds. Because of his size, we've long since run out of children's clothing options for him. the waist was too big. We found these jeans to be the only ones that we could make the waist quite slim but long enough. A pair of 28x34s fits him perfectly. I've marked it as "a bit small" because it needs a waist 26 otherwise the quality is excellent.

Cowboy cut means really slim cut. I was at a loss for my 12 year old son who is 5ft 8" and weighs 100lbs. Also, he already has a 34" inseam to waist size as I didn't read other reviews but with Amazon's excellent return policy I sent it back and got a few inches bigger than his waist (sorry I'm a girl and used to the smallest size that doesn't hit where the pants would hit. They fit great, hold up well and look good and luckily they have longer inside legs so I have hope for the future.
