Big delay relay on power converters

This relay does not turn on the relay when power is applied, it has a delay which I need for the dual horn system on my motorcycle.

Some parts do not work

2 of 5 items failed within 10 minutes. An idle current of more than 0.25A is not very encouraging. I ordered 5, I needed 2, so the project got started anyway. Dirt is cheap, so it works the way it's supposed to work for Chinese bullshit.

Non-monostable switch

NOTE. This is not a monostable switch. This is, as they say, a delay circuit where the relay is activated after a certain time. The circuit remains in this state until power is removed. The delay is related to the input voltage, not the relay turn-on time. It is a two state device with a delay until the second state. The reset occurs when the power is turned off.

Switches only once. Maintains a persistent state after a delay.

I assumed the 555 would provide a variable duty cycle pulse to toggle the NC and NO contacts back and forth at a rate determined by RC TC. What it actually does is an initial on-delay where the relay is not energized, and once the relay is energized (output 555) it remains energized. Power must be removed to reset the relay to the de-energized state.

Make sure you only want to enable the delay. No delay AUS

This product is of excellent quality and the delivery was very quick as usual. Make sure you understand that this is to delay how long anything you have ever hooked up to the timer will turn on after the relay module turns on. I couldn't see if I could convert it to a simple "runtime" timer module, so that when you turn it on, the timer runs for a certain amount of time and turns off ----- it's exactly the opposite.

Hit-or-miss quality

2 out of 5 units were DOA. One of them smoked. Bad chips 555. I was able to fix two since I have surface mount repair tools. Even if not everyone has access to it. The input will not be properly filtered if you use the same positive rail to power the common pin of the relay. Any inductive/electromagnetic noise will cause the 555 chip to fail or miss the delay altogether. To use it at all you need a separate power supply to trigger the relay and another to power your device through the relay…
