Description of Yellow Mountain Imports Professional Aluminum: Elevating Game Experience to the Next Level

Chinese Mahjong Set: Big is the way to go with serious players of Chinese style Mahjong. Substantial sized loud clacking tiles with bright crisp engraved letters on a pure white melamine surface; Visit a mahjong parlor in Asia, and this is likely the set that you'll see - hefty, practical, and easy to read. 146 Large Melamine Tiles: Made with scratch-resistant melamine and are beautifully inscribed with Chinese characters only, each tile measures 1.6 x 1.1 x 0.8 inch (4 x 2.9 x 2 centimeters); Includes 36 circles, 36 bamboos, 36 characters, 12 dragons (red, green, white), 16 winds (north, east, south, west), 8 flowers and seasons, and 2 blank spares; This set plays by Chinese gameplay only, not American/Western rules; No Joker tiles or Arabic numerals markings are included. Mahjong Accessories: Includes three dice and a wind indicator; Racks and pushers are not included. Aluminum Case: Sturdy yet light aluminum case with red felt lining on the interior surface and trays to store tiles and accessories; Case measures 15.4 x 12.2 x 2.6 inches (39 x 31 x 6.5 centimeters). Entire set weighs 14.2 pounds (6.5 kilograms).

Very good, but there is room for improvement.

I got this set to replace my other set which I thought was too small (and dirty). These tiles are quite large and very clean. Having played around with this set a few times, here's my take on where it could be improved. 1. The tiles are by no means light, but could be a bit heavier. Sometimes even bones could collide and move stacked tiles. 2. There are no shells in the box. Not the end of the day but it would be more convenient and every other set I've had had trays. 3, There is no "banker"…

Pros
  • Still happy
Cons
  • Expensive

My favorite set in Tile Games is

I had a beautiful set of Ma Jiang from Yellow Mountain Imports that I took with friends on trips. The Ma-Jiang set had small 1/2 inch thick tiles that were difficult to mix and handle. After the divorce, I couldn't take my Ma Chiang automatic table with me. So I used the portable set more because I got fed up with it. this and was looking for something more substantial. I chose this new set because of the 7/8" thick tile - the thickest tile I could find. The set is beautiful and the tiles are…

Perfect set, not quite yet but they're almost there.

Largest tile format on the market so far, I searched for the large format and spent hours on Amazon browsing various sellers and settled on the Yellow Mountain Imports set, make no mistake. This is the largest tile set you can get here in America and I search everywhere, unfortunately they don't have any larger tiles than this set and I search on youtube for a huge tile size about 2 1/2 inches long but no one has These oversized tiles are not sold here in America at least yet, my only complaint

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Clarity

I can't help but love these big chunky tiles

I love the feel of these big chunky tiles. And I like the set because there are no Arabic numerals on the tiles (except seasons and flowers). And I like a real Chinese set with ideograms of honor and fortune instead of western-style red and green dragons. I guess I just like to pretend I'm a veteran Chinese player and not the American amateur that I am. You will learn Chinese characters quickly. You don't need frames. The tiles fit well. But if I could find coasters for these large tiles, I…
