Description of YG 1 Uncoated Overall Cutting Diameter

Extra-long-length end mills have longer cutting edges and can make deeper cuts than long-length end mills. Six flutes produce a better finish than fewer flutes. Center-cutting design allows the end mill to plunge into material like a drill bit while also performing conventional surface milling. Cobalt steel resists abrasion and high cutting temperatures, and has higher feed rates than high-speed steel. Uncoated (bright) tools have no additional surface treatment or coating for use on a range of materials.

Type of review

Efficient and durable for metals, wood, and plastics. The overall cutting diameter is perfect for industrial and scientific use. It requires less power to use and reduces stress on the machine. Ideal for precise and clean cuts. Easy to install and fits with the majority of cutting tools. However, it may not be suitable for heavy-duty and rough cutting.

Pros
  • High precision and accuracy in cuts.
Cons
  • Not suitable for cutting abrasive materials.

Extremely Dull: End mills

Very dull, does not cut aluminum well, tried different speeds and feeds, depth of cuts etc. Same problem as the other reviewer, he just screams and leaves a bad ending.

Pros
  • Extra long end mills have longer cutting edges and can cut deeper than long end mills
Cons
  • Not bad

It works, but it's paid for.

I used this to make a full depth profile cut on 6061-T6 aluminum. It screamed like a banshee. Made a 0.002" cut at 130 ipm at around 7500 rpm and the surface quality was terrible. Played with radial engagement and inches per minute but couldn't get it to work cleanly. I had to turn the parts over for an hour to get rid of the markings. The tool did the job, I'll end up buying something in carbide for future work.

Pros
  • Six grooves gives a better finish than fewer grooves
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
