Not much to check since I couldn't install the device. I have not connected to my Spectrum ISP cable modem to receive firmware updates. The wizard seems to think that the ZyXEL router should be able to obtain an IP address via DHCP - it doesn't. From this point, the wizard stops working because it cannot connect to the Internet to get updated firmware for the ZyXEL router. Send back to China!

I just bought and set up a USG20 wired router and the dashboard for the USG20W is very similar. The ZyXEL router was recommended by my VOIP phone service company. This is a fully functional WiFi router that received very positive reviews and was a budget router from the recommended list. Trying to configure wireless settings is not an easy task and I work with Cisco, Meraki, Unifi, SonicWall, Watchguard and many more on a daily basis. Whoever designed the interface could be a puzzle master. Clunky interface aside, directing traffic and allowing incoming traffic as defined seems to work well. Fix the interface and it's a solid 4-star budget firewall with enterprise features.

I bought this device to subscribe to the content filter. I was able to set up a content filter, but to my great disappointment, it doesn't check HTTPS:// sites. So if you are planning to protect your family from inappropriate websites, this is not the best product since most of these websites run on HTTPS protocol. Seriously considering returning the product.

Returned item, description must state that this device is not fully functional unless you purchase licenses for each feature. In other words, you buy a box and then pay to make it work. I advise against buying this device.

I use it to separate 3 different internal security zones with a restrictive firewall policy. I use a number of other useful features but haven't scratched the surface of what it's capable of. The device is quiet, runs cool and stable. This is NOT a simple device and requires some knowledge of network and firewall configuration. If the Linksys and Netgear configurations confuse you, stay away. BUT, if you want more features, control, and networking knowledge, you can't go wrong with this one.

I love ZyXEL firewalls, over the years I have installed literally hundreds of these devices at different companies, all different models and they are very stable and reliable.
