What is Viction
Viction, formerly TomoChain, is an EVM-compatible layer-1 blockchain secured by up to 150 masternodes under Proof-of-Stake Voting. VIC is its native coin, used for staking, governance and fees; the project promotes zero-gas transactions for sponsored tokens. TomoChain was renamed Viction on 1 November 2023.
Network and consensus
| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Type | EVM-compatible public layer-1 blockchain. |
| Consensus | Proof-of-Stake Voting (PoSV): VIC holders vote; the 150 most-voted candidates become masternodes that produce blocks in turn with double validation. |
| Block time | 2 seconds; transactions confirmed within 4 seconds. |
| Launched | Mainnet genesis block dated 14 December 2018. |
| Smart contracts | Solidity contracts, compiler version 0.8.17 or lower; chain ID 88. |
| Masternodes | Up to 150 consensus nodes; a candidate deposits 50,000 VIC. |
| Slashing | A masternode that creates no block in an epoch gets no rewards for the next five epochs. |
Supply and issuance
| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Maximum supply | 100 million VIC, fixed for the first 8 years. |
| Initial distribution | 55 million VIC at genesis after the token sale; 12 million for the team (4-year vesting), 16 million for partners and ecosystem, 17 million for block rewards. |
| Issuance | 17 million VIC of block rewards over 8 years: 4 million a year in years 1-2, 2 million in years 3-5, 1 million in years 6-8. |
| Inflation | After 8 years the Masternode Council may add 0.5-1 million VIC a year as block rewards. |
| Staking rewards | Rewards are paid every epoch of 900 blocks (about 30 minutes) to masternodes and stakers. |
What VIC is used for
- VIC is the native coin of the Viction blockchain; since mainnet it is no longer an ERC-20 token.
- Holders vote for masternode candidates with at least 100 VIC per vote and share block rewards.
- VIC is described as the long-term governance instrument of the network and is used to fund ecosystem development.
Who develops and governs Viction
- Foundation
- Tomo Foundation, a non-profit set up to support the TomoChain (now Viction) ecosystem; announced 21 August 2023.
- Legal entity
- The site's Terms of Use are a contract with Tomo Foundation, which says it does not control the Viction blockchain.
- Governing law
- The Terms of Use are governed by the laws of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
- Founders
- A May 2023 TomoChain post names Long Vuong as founder of TomoChain.
- Open source
- Client, governance dapp, explorer and tools are published on GitHub (BuildOnViction); some early projects stay private.
History
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 2017 | TomoChain started work on a scalable blockchain using Proof-of-Stake Voting. |
| 14 December 2018 | TomoChain mainnet genesis block. |
| 25 May 2023 | TomoChain announced a strategic investment from Coin98, with Coin98 to serve as its official wallet. |

| 1 November 2023 | TomoChain was renamed Viction and the TOMO ticker became VIC, with no change to contracts, tokenomics or supply. |
| 12 July 2025 | Viction announced the mandatory Atlas hard fork, which retires the built-in TomoX order-book DEX module. |
| 19 March 2026 | Viction published its 2026 network upgrade roadmap: a vic-geth client migration and the Prometheus hard fork. |
Security and audits
- Each block a masternode creates must be verified by a second, randomly selected masternode (double validation).
- Masternodes that miss blocks are slashed: no rewards for the next five epochs.
Security incidents
No security incident is recorded in the sources checked on 1 November 2026 (the company’s own channels and incident databases): defillama.com/hacks, hacked.slowmist.io/search, rekt.news/leaderboard, blog.viction.xyz/sitemap-posts.xml, docs.viction.xyz/llms.txt
Risks and caveats
- Block production depends on at most 150 masternodes chosen by VIC-weighted votes.
- After the first 8 years the Masternode Council may add up to 1 million VIC a year, a small inflation of 0.5-1%.
- Some code is kept private and some development is under non-disclosure agreements with third parties.
- Unvoted VIC stays locked for about 48 hours, and resigned masternode deposits for 30 days.

Questions and answers
Is TomoChain the same as Viction?
Yes. Viction says it is the new name of TomoChain (1 November 2023); the TOMO ticker became VIC without changes to the contract, tokenomics or supply.
What is the maximum supply of VIC?
The docs say the total supply is fixed at 100 million VIC for the first 8 years; after that the Masternode Council may add 0.5-1 million VIC a year as block rewards.
How does Viction consensus work?
Viction uses Proof-of-Stake Voting: VIC holders vote, the 150 most-voted candidates become masternodes, and blocks come every 2 seconds with double validation.
When did the TomoChain mainnet launch?
The Viction docs give the mainnet genesis block date as 14 December 2018.
Who is behind Viction?
Tomo Foundation, a non-profit, runs the website and support programmes; its Terms of Use say it does not control the blockchain itself.

How voting works
Votes are anonymous and carry no text. Each device has one vote per item; press the same button again to remove it. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is voting. We keep a random device ID in a cookie and a salted hash of the IP address to limit abuse — no names, no accounts. Votes are visitors’ opinions, not investment advice.
