Review on ๐Ÿ”ง MagnaFlow Universal Tru-X Stainless Steel Pipe 10790 - 2.25in Inlet/Outlet: Enhanced Exhaust Fitment Solution with Lasting Durability by Michael Patilla

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Installed on my W204 2009 C300 4-Matic

I installed it on my C class for an X pipe configuration instead of a stock resonator and boy does it sound good. This is perhaps the cheapest way to improve the sound of the exhaust. Parts + labor cost me less than $160 (I bought this pipe when it was around $70-80). It doesn't hum at all and just emits a pleasant grunt when you want to hear it. Additional info for those of you looking to upgrade to a muffled X pipe, remove the straight pipe. FYI, this part of the check is only relevant if you decide to remove the muffler. Conclusion before proceeding: I highly recommend this X-Pipe upgrade if you haven't done anything to your machine before. ------------ -------------------------------------- ------------ -------------------------------------- ------------ -------------------------------------- -----I once removed my mufflers and left it for about 3-4 months, yes it gets noisy. But it's too loud. I like it when my car sounds really loud when I accelerate hard, but it's ALWAYS too loud. I have to admit it sounds great at idle and of course can never be as good as an AMG, but I would say it's probably as close as you can get without voiding your warranty by changing many components of your engine (eg, coil distance etc .) and spend $1,000 on an exhaust system. Again, there are times when it sounds really good, but the hum is just insanely loud. I drive the freeway three times a week for about 50 miles each way and one day I had to put on noise canceling headphones because the hum was so bad. Even if you don't ride that much trails, I still wouldn't recommend greasing. remove with X-tube. It's too loud. I searched the forums and web for MONTHS before making this decision but I had to put the mufflers back on. Unless you're the kind of person who enjoys the gross, stupidly loud noises a Honda Civic makes on the road, I wouldn't recommend it (they're probably louder than the Ricer Civic). I remember reading a review on a forum from a guy with a standard resonator with a silencer removal configuration (no Xpipe), but as far as I remember it was too loud for him. For those of you wondering if this does anything for the trip computer and whatnot. no it gave me no errors with both mufflers and off. Even in cold Utah weather, I've never had any issues with noise or rattle (it rattled a bit after riding without a muffler for a while). Hope this helps some buyers.
