I recently installed some LED strips in my daughter's room and loved the effect, so I wanted to add some sparkle to the back of my office TV. The back of the TV is adjacent to a window facing the street, serving as a festive light for passers-by. The app is cumbersome to use, but easy to set up and works well. I'm pretty sure I'll either lose the remote or the dog will eat it, so the app is a good fallback. For the curious, I hooked these LEDs up to a USB meter to measure the current draw for various individual colors at full brightness.* Red only = 700mA * Green only = 900mA * Blue only = 840mA * White only = 1780 mA As you can see, white uses about twice the current as any other color. So if you are going to use the full length of an LED string and want to use white at full brightness often, make sure your TV's USB output is rated for at least 2A (2000mA). . Or use a separate power supply.
