My earlobes usually need longer pins so I ordered 8mm and they were long enough. I ordered 6mm for everything else and some of them were too long. Luckily I read the reviews so I knew what to expect when I used it. It was very difficult to get some of them in depending on what piercing I was working on as you are pushing them through the back. I used a corsage needle (I filed the sharp end off) and pushed it through the front of the piercing to feed the needle from the back. The gem is securely set in the pillar and so far none of them have fallen apart. I was hoping the flat backs would keep my hair from getting tangled in them, but I still have trouble with the tops, but mostly when my hair is wet. I'm very happy with them and I like the way they look. It was nice to get more earrings for a low price as I need so many!
