Review on Reese Towpower 7067000 Cable Puller by Fred Vazquez

Works but problem with cable

When I first used the cable it would not unwind from the drum. You'll need the cord about 6 feet, so you can pull at least that far. After pulling the cable just a foot, the cable is caught between the teeth on the drum and the rear cable management bracket, so even if you release the latch on the drum, no manual effort can pull the cable out. Tried prying it back onto the drum with a screwdriver but that didn't work. As a result, I unscrewed a screw holding the drum, pulled the drum up, disconnected the cable, and reinstalled the drum. At least I was able to easily free my garden tractor that was stuck on a 45 degree slope at my pond. I hope this doesn't happen again and I hope I don't have to use this again, but beware of this issue. Have at least a wrench and pliers handy to remove the drum if your cable gets stuck, especially if you need to pull more than 6 feet. Plus, it freed my 600 lb tractor with ease. Update: After use, the cable is coiled up. The drum is much tighter and I pulled it out without getting stuck. Be careful when using for the first time if the cord is not wrapped tightly around the drum, which may cause the cord to snag when you pull the cord by hand.

Pros
  • Sturdy cable, ratchet and pawl
Cons
  • Damaged
